The St Bride Library has collections which mainly cover printing but also related subjects: paper and binding, graphic design and typography, typefaces and calligraphy, illustration and printmaking, publishing and book-selling and the social and economic aspects of the printing, book, newspaper and magazine trades. We were lucky enough to be given a brief, but really informative, history of printing. I thought this was really interesting, not only because I'm a slight history geek but also because I think the whole process of printing is fascinating. My Uncle, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather were all printers at a company in South Africa so it was really interesting comparing what I heard in the talk at St Bride's with their history.
