01 Paul: Composition - Dual Platform Formats
In this workshop we looked at what you need to think about when composing a piece of design to satisfy two functions: a poster and a dust-jacket. First, in groups, we looked at what defines each of these formats.
We then looked at 'the principles of composition': harmony; unity; variety; opposition; depth; repetition; balance. We then used paper and card to fold and cut a prototype dust-jacket and poster.
02 Karl: Contrast - 2 Sides to Every Story
In this workshop we basically looked at the 'other side of the story' of London. We discussed perceptions: a non visual London; a non aural London; a non verbal London. Then we though about expressions: London as time; sound; words; space; smell. It was really interesting discussing theses things as it helped us look at London in every way other than the average, normal way that most people look at it in.
We then had to design a coat of arms for the area we live in. This was my first attempt.
