14/12 Bits from our last project...

For our last project (graphic design fundamentals) my aim was to encourage teenagers to educate themselves by taking advantage of all the free things around London, e.g. museums, galleries, which are right on their doorstep.
I decided to do this by making a small booklet which would on one side be a map (slightly similar to the one below) which had sites marked on it where you could visit and see things that were happening in the next few months. It would be accompanied by posters and a page on the Arts Council website.

I saw this in a TimeOut London Student special and thought it could be used as inspiration for my map which would also have information- i.e. not just an illustration.

These are some pages from my notebook which I used in my PDF presentation.

Above is one of the 100 postcards we had to make, the last few of which I was doing at the end of this project. The use of collage with maps and bits of photocopied cut-outs helped me with the designs for my final ideas.

These were the images I came up with in the end. Although I quite like the direction they're going in, they're no where near finished. I think I only got into the swing of it towards the end and therefore rushed the plans for my final outcomes.
